Time To Party In Tupperware With The Stock Pulling Back

A Small tupperware container.

Seal in a low basis in TUP

In case you missed the Tupperware party during the fall season, consider this week’s 2% correction an invitation to arrive fashionably late.

The “Tupperware space” was a big winner over the past two-plus months. Since September 2, Jarden Corporation, Newell Rubbermaid, and of course Tupperware Brands have rallied 12.9 percent, 10.7 percent, and 14.2 percent, respectively. This past week, Newell and Jarden bent to the market’s force, providing opportunities for those who didn’t join the party.

Since hitting a 6-month high in October, tupperware and diversified consumer products producer Jarden Corporation are down a little over 4 percent, serving to drastically repair Jarden’s technical picture. Over that time, Jarden’s relative strength index (RSI) has improved from an overbought position above 75 to a reading near 47, and the stock’s slow stochastics have fallen from an overbought reading above 80 to below 40.

Jarden stock has been consolidating and building support following profit taking in the wake of Jarden’s third-quarter earnings report last month, potentially preparing for a new rally.

The charts for Georgia-based Newell Rubbermaid?appear even more favorable. The stock formed a rounding top pattern, but volume has been steadily declining on the downturn. Newell, who also produces writing instrument brands like Sharpie and Papermate, in addition to other products, features an RSI near 37 and slow stochastics below 12, both being indicative of an oversold position. Currently priced near $17.14, look for Newell’s technicals to form a bottom before a potential retracement to the 10-day exponential moving average and to the last strong-volume open price near $17.93 which occurred on November 5.

Newell?also has?the advantage being?priced at 19-times earnings, versus Jarden which trades at a rich price-to-earnings multiple of 47. Yet both stocks?have strong short-term potental based on the charts. Although Newell and Jarden offer extremely modest annual dividend yields of about one percent, compared with Tupperware Brands’ two percent, both stocks may be sending out?invitations to buy the dips.

4 held without bond in beating death of teen at house party

Monday, November 8, 2010

Monique Rivarde said she wants justice for her son who was beaten to death at a house party in Douglas County.

“My son did not die in vain,” said Monique Revaida, the mother of 18-year-old Bobby Maurice Tillman. “Something will be done about these children attacking each other for nothing.”

Police say the party started out small but grew out of control when 50-80 young people showed up after word spread by e-mails and text messages.

According to online reports, when the parents saw the large gathering outside their home, they asked the uninvited guests to leave.

That’s when a fight broke out between two females and two men. One of the females hit a man, said Douglas County Maj. Tommy Wheeler. He said the suspect told him he couldn’t hit a girl, but he would punch the first man who walked by.

It was Tillman’s fate to walk by at that moment. He was pounced upon by a small crowd who punched, stomped and kicked him as he lay on the ground.

“It’s amazing,” said Wheeler. “He had nothing to do with anything, they just decided he’s the one. And they killed him.”

Tillman was still alive when paramedics arrived, but he died before he could be transported to the hospital.

Four men were quickly arrested. They are Quantez Devonta Mallory, Horace Damon Coleman, Emanuel Benjamin Boykins and Tracen Lamar Franklin. They are age 18 to 19. They are being held in Douglas County jail without bond.

“They haven’t even allowed me to call him,” said Erica Hillery, Mallory’s mother. “I feel real bad for the victim’s parents but I need to know what’s going on.”

Douglas County Sheriff Phil Miller is catching heat for rounding up 57 kids from the party and transporting them by bus them to the sheriff’s office for interviews.

“I had six people to interview 57 people,” Miller told the AJC on Monday. “I didn’t violate anybody’s rights. We loaded them onto a bus, there was heat on the bus, they were allowed bathroom breaks and we interviewed 57 people between 2:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Sunday. Our goal was to find out who murdered this young man.”

“I apologize if I offended anyone, but I’m not required by law to notify parents,” the sheriff told the AJC. “If the parents were so interested, why were those kids out after midnight?”

PICS: Ciara’s 25th Birthday Party at Gold Room

Friday, November 5, 2010

Socialite and model Ciara continued the weeks long celebration of her 25th birthday (which fell on Oct. 25), at the Gold Room in Atlanta last night.

CiCi got the party started with a hawt version of chris brown’s “Deuces”.

Ciara arrived fashionably late (around 1 am) with a small entourage that included an unidentified male. Tongues were wagging when the two lovebirds left the Gold Room arm in arm after closing the club.

Other celebs and notables at the party included actress Vivica A. Fox, Ciara’s former producer Jazze Pha (who I hear took her to the cleaners when he won that lawsuit), socialite Kenny Burns, music mogul Devyne Stephesn and geriatric Hip Hop mogul Russell Simmons.

Speaking of Vivica, they say she had a loud verbal argument with her young beau, local club promoter Slimm. No word on what the spat was about. But they kissed and made up later.
