Normally I wouldn’t waste my time writing about this, but Twitter was abuzz last night with complaints about her crooked lacefront wig and her Cinderella costume. “The only thing missing was the pumpkin,” they said on Twitter. I don’t see anything wrong with her outfit or her lacefront. Although it is sitting a little askew on her head. But if she likes it, I love it. I especially like how her baby hair is slicked down on the side Cassie-style. You go, girl!

Identified: the man who gave President Obama a fat lip

A little-known Hispanic politician was identified by the White House as the one who gave ‘The One’ a fat lip during a pickup basketball game at Fort McNair in Washington, DC yesterday.

U.S. President Barack Obama took an elbow to the mouth as he went up for a rebound while playing a pickup basketball game with his personal assistant Reggie Love (a former Duke University standout), and “family members” – according to the AP.

Many speculated that the dirty player was either Love, Hillary Clinton or a 5′-2″ female Secret Service Agent.

But the perpetrator was eventually identified as Rey Decerega, who works for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute in Washington, DC.

Obama’s busted lip required 12 stitches to close. But Hot Air explains that the number of stitches was increased due to doctors using a smaller filament (string) to stitch the wound tighter so the resulting scar would not be as visible when it heals.

Yesterday, the White House released an official statement from Decerega, who says he enjoys playing basketball with Obama and is sure the president will be back out on the court again soon.

Maybe one of Obama’s NBA buddies will educate him on the benefits of wearing a mouth guard such as the custom fanged one that Miami Heat star Lebron James wore during a game on Halloween night.

Obama as a Hindu God On the Cover of Newsweek

This can’t be good: this week’s edition of Newsweek magazine features an illustration of U.S. President Barack Obama on the cover as “Shiva the Destroyer” doing the “dance of death.” By the way, Shiva is considered to be a major Hindu deity, or a God.

Mr. Obama has gone to great lengths to convince Americans that he is a Christian and not a Muslim as polls have shown. So this cover won’t help the situation much.

I had my doubts that this was a real cover, so I called my contact over at Newsweek to confirm. This issue hits newsstands on November 22nd.

In happier news, Khloe Odom and her husband Lamar get into the holiday spirit on the cover of People Extra magazine.

Khloe wrote on her blog:

“Hi dolls! I’m so excited to share with you part of Lamar’s and my feature in People Magazine’s Holiday Issue!! This is going to be our first Christmas at our new house so it’s a really big deal for us. Last year we tried to go all out in our temporary home at the SLS Hotel, but even with the decorations, it still just wasn’t the same. This year we’ve taken holiday spirit to a whole new level.”

I wouldn’t be a loyal British subject if I didn’t include at least one of the hundreds of covers featuring royal couple Prince Williams and Kate Middleton, who announced their engagement this week. I hear the British tabloids are roasting Kate over there, calling her a ‘commoner’ which means not royal. Normally, the royals marry other blue blood royals.

And finally, Ryan Reynolds is People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” for 2010. I don’t see it, but then again, I’m not supposed to.

Obama Refuses To Extend Bush Tax Cuts for the Wealthy

After the political drubbing U.S. President Barack Obama and the Democrats took during last week’s midterm elections, Obama is determined not to cave in to the republicans. He steadfastly refuses to extend George Bush’s tax cuts for the wealthy which expire at the end of the year.

Obama denied statements made by his senior advisor David Axelrod to the Huffington Post. Axelrod suggested that the administration was ready to back a temporary extension of the current rates. Mr. Obama said Mr. Aelrod’s comments were “misinterpreted.”

“Here’s the right interpretation — I want to make sure that taxes don’t go up for middle class families starting on January 1st,” Obama said at a news conference at the conclusion of the G-20 Summit here. “That is my number one priority for those families and for our economy. I also believe that it would be fiscally irresponsible for us to permanently extend the high income tax cuts.” [link]

Economists argue that not extending the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy “would constitute a profound and damaging ‘anti-stimulus’ that would harm our prospects for expansion in the near future.” [link]

In a letter signed by more than 300 economists, The National Taxpayer Union argued that raising taxes on the wealthy would result in lost jobs and hiring freezes. “The promise of a tax increase in January 2011 would create significant economic distortions as individuals and businesses conserve capital or stave off hiring,” the letter reads.

But Obama’s most unexpected allies may be the millionaires and billionaires who benefitted from Bush’s tax cuts.

“This is a time when the wealthiest Americans need to give back to the country,” said millionaire Jeffrey Hollender of the Responsible Wealth Project, whose 700 or so members argue that the country simply cannot afford to keep tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans who hardly need that cash.

“There are so many benefits that the wealthy have,” Hollender told NEWSWEEK’s Nancy Cook.

“…if you came from a much less affluent background, I could see someone having a more hard-edged attitude about money—like, “I made it all myself, so let me keep every penny I can.” [But] I would hope that someone who came from a less affluent background would have more compassion. The challenge is that I don’t believe in starting out poor or starting out rich. A lot of it is luck, and we’re standing on the backs of those who came before us.

Obama: “Credible Terrorist Threat” Against the American People

U.S. President Barack Obama yesterday confirmed the presence of explosive material in two packages mailed to Jewish synagogues in Chicago from Yemen and Dubai.

In a hastily arranged press conference, Obama said suspicious packages found on board UPS and FedEx cargo planes were a “credible terrorist threat” against the American people.

British investigators found an ink toner cartridge that had been “manipulated” to look like a bomb on board a UPS cargo plane when it stopped in London on Thursday.

Tests on the cartridge were negative for explosives, leading some to speculate that this may have been a dry run by al Qaeda — or an attempt to distract the media from focusing on the predicted Democratic losses during the midterm elections in the U.S.

U.S. President Obama was advised of the terrorist threats late Thursday.

CNN and CBS says there may be a dozen more suspicious packages bound for the U.S.

A Joint Terrorism Task Force source tells CBS News that investigators are looking for between 10-20 packages shipped out of the UPS office in Sanna, Yemen during the same time frame.
In case it wasn’t obvious, the initial investigations resulted from a tip, not routine security processing, according to CNN [link]

UPS has grounded all cargo planes in the U.S., and both UPS and FedEx have suspended service from Yemen to the U.S.

Locally, security has been stepped up at Hartsfield Airport.
